Breast Hypertrophy (oversized breasts) is a condition that affects millions of women and typically occurs during puberty or shortly after pregnancy. This condition often leads to both physical and emotional problems. In addition to self image issues, patients often experience pain and discomfort manifested by chronic neck and back pain, shoulder grooving, recurrent rashes. The weight of excess breast tissue can impair your ability to lead an active life. The emotional discomfort and self consciousness of having large pendulous breasts is as important an issue as the physical pain and discomfort for many women. A reduction mammaplasty (breast reduction) removes excess breast tissue and skin to bring the breast size in better proportion with your body and to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with overly large breasts.

Procedure: An incision is made in a key-hole pattern (wise pattern) and a column of breast tissue with the nipple attached is preserved while the excessive breast tissue and skin that surrounds this column is removed. The skin envelope around the key pattern is then brought together to reshape the breasts in a conical shape. Sutures are then layered deep to the breast tissue to keep the reconstructed shape. A support bra is then used for several weeks as the incisions heal.

Results: The results of your breast reduction surgery are immediately visible, and the alleviation of the chronic neck and back pain is apparent from day one. Over time, post-surgical swelling will resolve and incision lines will fade. Satisfaction with your new image should continue to grow as you fully recover.
